Giving meaning to our work meant
finding a deeper meaning within the comments that were posted on our videos. As
a group it was decided upon that in support of the videos we shared we were
going to post comments that were encouraging and uplifting. It was the general
consensus that it would be easy to poke fun and ridicule the people in the
videos. But the main idea we wanted to portray is that YouTube has given people
an outlet to share hobbies or things they enjoy doing but may not share them
with others in their everyday life. For reasons that are unknown to us but relayed through the
fact they are personal home videos that are shared by individuals who aren’t
what our society may look at as “superstars” helped us create our idea. The comments
are giving the videos a meaning that supports the idea of sharing ourselves on
YouTube no matter the comments or opinions that may be received.
